The city centre, where you can find everything you need, is also just a short walk from the residence. You’ll be able to choose between single and double rooms.

CLOSE TO EVERYTHING

Coímbra is known worldwide for its famous historic university, which is the oldest in Portugal. It was founded in the 12th century, and its historic importance is such that it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with Rua da Sofia and the upper part of the city. Isn’t it a privilege to study here? Coímbra is a wonderful city to walk around, you can get anywhere you like on foot. The Universidade de Coímbra is within walking distance. Depending on where you’re studying, it’ll take you between 10 and 20 minutes to walk to the faculty, and the Biblioteca Joanina is only a 7-minute walk from the residence. It’s great to be so close to your university faculty!

IF YOU LIKE TO GET OUT AND ABOUT

Coímbra is full of places to see. Besides being a prestigious university city with great atmosphere at all times of the day and night, it’s a wonderful place to visit some famous buildings or to just take a stroll among the city’s ancient streets and historic churches. Coímbra also has its own local specialities, such as bacalhau com natas and polvo à lagareiro. The Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral are two of the city’s most famous sights. The Old Cathedral, also known as Sé Velha, is one of the most beautiful examples of Romanesque architecture in the country. The New Cathedral, or Sé Nova, is another must-see for any resident of Coimbra. The city’s botanical garden is also not to be missed. It’s the perfect place to stroll among the greenery and unwind from the hustle and bustle of university life in the city. If you’d like to explore some of the places around Coímbra, you can always visit some of the towns just down the coast, such as Aveiro. Alternatively, pay a visit to Fátima or the Roman ruins at Conimbriga.
